May 21, 2002 - 5:53 p.m. Well, Patty sort of beat me to the punch here, but I gotta vent anyway. For those of you who don't watch his shows, Joss Whedon is an amazing writer. He has done some amazing things on his shows "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel." Unfortunately, he has made the same huge mistake Chris Carter did with "The X-Files." He let others take the wheel. Now, don't get me wrong. I realize that one man can't write outstanding scripts for episode in one series, much less multiple series. You have to rely on a team of writers. But, if you created the show, it is your responsibility to keep an eye on the work your writers are putting out (or crapping out, as the case may be.) Let me give you an example. In a recent episode of "Buffy," the title heroine is all but raped by the obsessive vampire who is basically stalking her. However, one episode later, she is perfectly alright with letting this same vampire babysit her younger sister. It's like the writers have no idea where they are going from episode to episode. Of course, this doesn't mean that I am going to stop watching "Buffy" and "Angel" because, after all, they are still better than the likes of "Greg the Bunny." Thank God TNN still reruns old "A-Team" episodes.
